This project involved a variety of works, including the transformation of a large greenfield area into high-quality grass sports pitches, designed for regular school use and wider community access. We also undertook fencing and aoft landscaping works.
Sports pitch installation
- Construction of 3 full-sized football pitches to specified Sports England standards.
- Importation and grading of 12,000 tonnes of topsoil to establish level playing surfaces with appropriate sub-base structure.
- Installation of 1,400 linear metres of drainage infrastructure to ensure year-round usability and effective water management.
- Full site preparation, laser grading, seeding, and aftercare to establish durable and well-draining turf
Fencing
- Installation of 600m V mesh security fencing
- 220m of MUGA rebound fencing
- 170m of metal railings
- 70m sprinkler tank enclosure
Landscaping
- Planting of 3,000 shrubs
- 17,000m2 of grass & wildflower seeding

The project required careful logistical planning due to the high volume of topsoil being imported and distributed across a constrained site with an active school nearby.
Hooper Services worked closely with BAM and site management to coordinate phased deliveries, minimise disruption, and maintain strict health and safety protocols throughout. Ground conditions and drainage were also key technical considerations, with the team designing and implementing a comprehensive drainage network to manage surface water effectively across all three pitches.
The project was delivered on time and within budget, with all quality benchmarks met to the satisfaction of BAM and Orchard Grove Primary School. The pitches now provide a first-class outdoor sports facility that supports both physical education and community engagement.
